We are an independent research facility, and therefore we have had the freedom to craft a facility that we feel is in the best interest of study monitors. Our current building was completed in 2001, with the unique needs of the study monitor in mind. It was designed by our Medical Director (Harold Bays MD), with substantive input from the entire research staff. As the result of decades of research experience, we feel we have created a working environment for study monitors that is second to none.
Our free-standing two story research building is approximately 12,000 square feet, plus over 3500 square feet of mostly storage area in the basement.
In addition to the unique amenities and the unique physical properties of our building, we have not forgotten that it is the professional and friendly nature of our staff, as well as our profound respect for our study monitors that has established our reputation for research excellence. Yes, we have gone through extraordinary efforts to ensure that study monitors have the best physical surroundings. But in addition, our staff continues our personal commitment to provide the kind of pleasant, professional, and friendly personnel interactions that has become such a well-known signature of our site.
Nice buildings are important. But nice people are just as important.
We appreciate our monitors !
Location:
L-MARC is located in a suburban area of Louisville, just 5-10 minutes from the airport. We are centrally located, so a stay in any area of town is within ~20 minutes of L-MARC Research Center. Please see our Directions page for more detail.
Parking:
L-MARC Research Center has its own parking lot. Parking is free, and immediately next to the entrance to L-MARC Research Center building.
Monitor Working Area:
Because we understand the special needs of our Study Monitors, and appreciate their efforts, L-MARC is pleased to feature the "Research Atrium." After listening to the advise and input of countless study monitors (including their horror stories), we have created a designated study monitor research area specifically for study monitors. Amenities include:
Large, open, study monitor work area with designated study monitor work stations solely for study monitors.
The large open work area is surrounded by glass windows, with a scenic, open view of the surrounding wooded area on Poplar Level Road..
Each work station has its own desk, chair, shelves, phone and electrical outlets, specifically designed to be at the study monitor fingertips. There is no need for bringing extension cords.
Each work station has its own analogue telephone outlet for modem to modem communication. We even supply a complimentary phone cord if needed.
Each work station has its own data port, leading to a shared T1 fiber optic rapid Internet network connection. Wireless Internet access is also available.
Also in the study monitor Research Atrium are shredder vesicles, copiers, faxes, and easy access to research coordinator offices. Cushioned corner reading chairs are available for relaxation - since we know study monitors have sooooooo much free time!
A break room is next door, with refrigerator, microwave oven, fresh water dispenser, tables, stools, and even a comfortable couch.
A private conference room is just a few feet away, with a table, shelves, as well as phone access, analogue phone (for modem to modem laptop computer transmission) and data port access (for access to rapid internet access through a shared T1 fiber optic cable system).
Hospital Availability:
L-MARC Research Center is located just one block from Audubon Hospital - a 480 bed facility which includes a full laboratory, cardiac catherization lab, radiology and EKG departments. We are also just minutes away from downtown where Norton Hospital (a 375 bed, well-known research hospital in Louisville) aids us in conducting Phase II trials. L-MARC is centrally located and partners with other physicians in the area for exams necessary for studies, including gynecological exams, neuropathy testing, eye exams, and other study-related procedures.
