We are an independent research facility, and therefore we have had the freedom to craft a facility that we feel is in the best interest of conducting nutraceutical trials.  Our current building was completed in 2001, with the unique needs of study conduct in mind.  It was designed by our Medical Director (Harold Bays MD), with substantive input from the entire research staff.  As the result of decades of research experience, we feel we have created a research environment for study participants that is second to none. 

Our free-standing two story research building is approximately 12,000 square feet, plus over 3500 square feet of mostly storage area in the basement.

In addition to the unique amenities and the unique physical properties of our building, we have not forgotten that it is the professional and friendly nature of our staff, as well as our profound respect for our study monitors that has established our reputation for research excellence.  Yes, we have gone through extraordinary efforts to ensure that study participants have the best physical surroundings.  But in addition, our staff continues our personal commitment to provide the kind of pleasant, professional, and friendly personnel interactions that has become such a well-known signature of our site. 

Nice buildings are important.  But nice people are just as important.

Location:

L-MARC is located in a suburban area of Louisville, just 5-10 minutes from the airport. We are centrally located, so a stay in any area of town is within ~20 minutes of L-MARC Research Center.  Please see our Directions page for more detail.

Parking:

L-MARC Research Center has its own parking lot.  Parking is free, and immediately next to the entrance to L-MARC Research Center building.

Hospital Availability:

L-MARC Research Center is located just one block from Audubon Hospital - a 480 bed facility which includes a full laboratory, cardiac catherization lab, radiology and EKG departments. We are also just minutes away from downtown where Norton Hospital (a 375 bed, well-known research hospital in Louisville) aids us in conducting Phase II trials. L-MARC is centrally located and partners with other physicians in the area for exams necessary for studies, including gynecological exams, neuropathy testing, eye exams, and other study-related procedures.

Dr. Harold Bays, Medical Director and President, has been an Investigator of over 400 clinical trials. He also is exensively published in the medical literature, and has presented numerous abstracts at scientific conferences.

L-MARC Research Center has experience in protocol development, and nutraceutical study conduct in both healthy subjects and in patients with metabolic disease such as dyslipidemia (high cholesterol), hyperglycemia (diabetes mellitus), obesity, as well as other metabolic conditions. Because of a 20 year database and established advertisement acumen, L-MARC Research Center is equiped to evaluate nutraceutical agents (such as functional foods, food additives, consumer health products, dietary supplements, over-the-counter therapies, and devices) with the same commitment to quality as with the research development of pharmaceuticals.

L-MARC Research Center has a full complement of research staff. Especially relevent for nutraceutical trials is that L-MARC Research Center has 3 full-time dietitians. Carolyn Williams RD, LD is L-MARC Research Center's Director of Nutraceutical Research, and is also a research coordinator and research dietitian.
