Health care issues have received much attention in the past several years. But one perspective has been ignored - a comic's perspective.

Dr. Harold Bays (the researcher) has been the featured speaker for numerous academic and medical programs. Dr. Bays ("The Only Stand-up Endocrinologist in the World") has performed at top comedy clubs around the country.

Since 1988, Dr. Bays has combined his medical knowledge with his comedy skills to raise tens of thousands of dollars to benefit patients with chronic diseases (such as cancer, arthritis and AIDS), the homeless, the United Negro College Fund, and other charities. He is probably best known as the featured comic of the "Stand Up Diabetes" program that has taken him around the nation to raise funds for the American Diabetes Association (ADA), and to increase awareness of this misunderstood disorder.

Dr. Bays first entered into comedy after being a professional musician (jazz, blues, and "60's" bands), busboy, dishwasher, cook, janitor, and clerk. His life's successes and failures have given him a unique political viewpoint on the issues of our times. For example, his concerns about the press have been detailed in his controversial book "The Perspective, Libel, and the Ten Rules of 90's Journalism" that has been featured on national cable, and talk radio.

Dr. Bays' viewpoints may be controversial, but his perspective is unique, genuine, and suggests you don't have to be from the east or west coast to have an opinion.
